Mauro Spessot

Mauro Spessot, known to fans simply as Mauro, is an Italian singer, songwriter, and performer best known for his international Italo-disco hit “Buona Sera – Ciao Ciao.” Born in Trieste, Italy, Mauro grew up in a family of musicians — his father, Dario Spessot, was an opera singer who performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
From an early age, Mauro was surrounded by music, stage lights, and live performances — experiences that shaped his passion for the art of entertainment and inspired him to become one of the most distinctive voices of the 1980s European disco scene.

Early Career

Mauro began his career performing with local Italian bands, including Electric Sun, Harley, and Mauro & Control Competition. His strong stage presence, emotional voice, and natural charisma quickly drew attention from producers in the Italo-disco movement.
In the mid-1980s, Mauro met Claus Matthias and Ferdinand Förster, with whom he co-created his most iconic song, “Buona Sera – Ciao Ciao.” The single became a European dance hit, topping charts and filling dancefloors from Italy to Eastern Europe.

International Success

“Buona Sera – Ciao Ciao” was released in 1987 and soon became one of the defining tracks of the Italo-disco era. Its catchy melody, upbeat rhythm, and Mauro’s unique vocal style made it a staple in clubs across Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, and Romania.
The song remains a timeless classic, still played by DJs and featured in numerous Italo-disco compilations and festivals worldwide.
